The endoscopy and colonoscopy subspeciality unit of Ayatollah Golpayegani Hospital has skillful doctors, professors, and staff as well as the best modern medical equipment, including Olympus and Pentax 180 endoscopy and colonoscopy devices with NBI capability, and is ready to provide digestive diagnostic-therapeutic as well as check-up services. Emergency patients, as diagnosed by the on-call gastroenterologist, are the priority for diagnostic-therapeutic measures in the first 24 hours.

 

The activities of this unit include:

Endoscopy and colonoscopy for out-patients and in-patients, biopsies and polypectomy if needed, controlling gastrointestinal hemorrhage, diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancerous masses, PEG placement, etc. All diagnostic-therapeutic services are performed under the supervision of gastroenterologists and under general anesthesia if need be. Moreover, gastrointestinal hemorrhage is controlled and PEG is placed for patients in need of enteral nutrition. Polypectomy is performed when needed during the colonoscopy.

For endoscopy and colonoscopy services:

The patients first consult the gastroenterologist, and the doctor requests the procedure.

Before performing the procedures, the patients set an appointment in person and should follow the doctor’s orders.

Patients must have their insurance card, if any, when visiting the unit. If they do not have insurance cards, they must have a letter of introduction from a supplemental health insurance based on the type of contract
